Kodama

The fall season has officially kicked off. I'm jealous that I will never again have a first day of school, but I suppose having an awesome job makes up for it. Here is a sample from the new catalog:

Maybe you understand the title of the post now? Using Miyazaki's imagery of course. That actually wasn't the original plan when I started these pieces. Anyway, our line this season is just so different from the normal stuff. We included some of those old school designs for our loyal customers, but we have been working with riveting, inlaying, texture, stamping, and we just bought books on PMC.

I'm also more proud of the way the pictures turned out in this one. Last catalog was beautiful for sure, but this one is definitely more cohesive.

Here's a look at my favorite of Laura's (my partner/pseudo boss) new designs:

On and on and on and on....

The PW show this weekend was FAIL. I bet 50 people walked in the door. Luckily I was able to make back my table price with a little bit of profit. My fabulous boyf accompanied me again and was ever so helpful. Again, I made some great contacts, although I doubt I'll do that show again. My Etsy has some new listings, including those fun leather flower clips I brought to the show. Stay tuned, I'll most likely be doing a show at the end of March... they should be getting a lot more common now that the warm weather should be on its way!

PW Show

I bet everyone is stir crazy from the snow right?? Here's your chance to get out! Come to the craft show at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School this Sat from 10-3! I'll be there selling some of these fabulous things:
These are leather flower and leather feather headbands! I have them in single flower clips as well. They are also just starting to go up on Etsy.

Also, I made it into the Savoy Theatre Company! The first three meetings were canceled due to the snowpocolypse and I am SO EXCITED to start.

I'm very excited for tonight; my amazing photographer friend Alyssa has kindly offered to take some pics of my goodies for etsy and perhaps a lookbook I'd like to get together sometime soon. I shall post them as soon as I get them back from her!

Also, my "backstage audition" for the Savoy theatre company is this weekend. The hilarious lady I was emailing with told me that I shouldn't be nervous, it's more like: Can you hammer while holding a beer in your hand? I told her I was so skilled I could even hammer with a wine glass :) I'm also going to happy hour with the group on Thursday as a sort of "getting to know you thing"

Last, you should mark your calenders, because the Plymouth Whitemarsh show is coming up on the 6th of Feb (its a Sat) and yours truely will be peddling her fabulous wares.

Spring?

So tonight I added some spring weight Rufflers to the Etsy. I can't believe I'm supposed to start thinking about warm weather already, I mean, the coldest months are just hitting us now! I have already had one store ask for some lighter weight goods, so I figured I should get on that myself as well!

I also started talking to a lady about becoming part of their theatre company! Right now it looks like I'll be "auditioning" for costume and set design. SO. MUCH. FUN. I miss stuff like that, I used to do it all the time. They are also very social and I'm invited to a happy hour downtown at the end of the month.

Con't

It's been 8 months since I posted, and I actually have a direction I want this blog to go in now, so I think I shall begin again! I have a rising success Etsy at the moment: PaisleybyJustine.etsy.com ...and I have been selling to a few stores in the Philly area! (check profile for more info) Right now my biggest seller has been these pretty awesome scarves/neck adornments
and a little something like thisI'll post some more favorites over the next few days! Meeting with Mimi tomorrow night about participating in a 60's themed fashion show!!! Right up my alley.

Oh, and I got almost no sewing done tonight because there is a possum in my basement. Joy.

Too Much Color

I met a lady at work today who had a bag that was crocheted out of recycled plastic bags. Although I didn't get a picture of hers, I found something similar to show off

Last, we were kinda slow today, so I spent the downtime making a fun stretchy belt
